John and Susan Aschenbrenner developed their interest in American Saddlebred horses nearly 25 years ago when their children began taking riding lessons at Heartland Stables.
Under the direction of owner Vikki Vogel and later her daughter Amanda Simpson their family had very successful riding careers.
As their children got older, John and Susan were able to take a more active role in riding and showing. Susan showed CH Callaway’s Queen of Crimson and competed successfully in the Show Pleasure Driving Division. Her long time equine partner is Callaway Cumulus. "Jack" is 6x National Champion, 2x World's Champion of Champions and was voted Horse Of The Year in the Country Pleasure Driving Division by the United Professional Horsemen's Association in the Country Pleasure Driving Division. Susan's new partner is Ethereal Love.
As they continued their involvement, their passion for the American Saddlebred increased. Susan is also an active volunteer and promoter of the American Saddlebred Horse. Susan serves as a Director and the Treasurer of The American Saddlebred Registry. Through The American Saddlebred Horse Association she is a member of The Charter Club Council and The Pleasure Horse Committee. She also serves as a Director of The Iowa Horse Shows Association and chaired The Des Moines Springfest Horse Show through 2015. In 2016 John and Susan were inducted into The Iowa Horsemen's Hall Of Fame for their contributions to the horse industry in Iowa.
It is their longtime love of the breed and all of the qualities that the American Saddlebred Horse has to offer that inspired John and Susan to create Dreamacres in 2008. It is their goal to breed outstanding equine partners for their clients.
